How this tool works
- Your ZIP is placed at its centre point from the U.S. Census Bureau 2023 ZCTA Gazetteer.
- Hail reports come from the NOAA NCEI Storm Events Database, which logs each report's date, stone size and location. This data runs from 2016-03-23 to 2026-06-13, the latest NOAA has published.
- Distance is a straight line from your ZIP's centre to where the hail was reported. Storms can damage cars miles from a report point, and many hail falls are never reported.
- 1 inch (quarter size) is the National Weather Service's severe-hail size. NOAA's Storm Events database mostly logs hail at or above that size, so smaller hail is under-counted.

Quick answers
When was the last big hail storm in Omaha?
Type your ZIP above to see the newest reports near you. Across the metro, the most recent report in NOAA's published data is 2026-06-13, and the largest since 2016 was 4.5 inches on 2023-07-28 in Dodge County.
My ZIP shows no reports. Did hail never fall here?
Not necessarily. NOAA logs only reports someone sent in, so rural and overnight hail is under-counted. Try a wider distance.
What size hail dents a car?
Dents are common from about 1 inch (quarter size) up, and smaller stones can dent thin panels in high wind. A paintless dent repair pro can tell you after a look.
Does this tool prove my car was hit?
No. It shows where hail was reported, not where it fell on your car. For a repair estimate, call or text (402) 347-7742 for a free quote from a local dent repair pro.
